Low Balance Alerts
Get notified before your wallet runs low so you never get caught short.
What Is a Low Balance Alert?
When your wallet balance drops below a threshold you set, you receive a notification. This gives you time to top up before your next purchase.
Example:
- You set your threshold to R100
- After a purchase, your balance is R85
- You receive an alert: "Your wallet balance is R85"
- You top up before your next visit
Setting Your Threshold
How to Set It
- Log in to the Member Portal
- Go to My Wallet → Settings or Notifications
- Find Low Balance Alert
- Enter your threshold amount (e.g., R100)
- Click Save
Choosing the Right Threshold
Consider your typical spending:
| Your Spending Pattern | Suggested Threshold |
|---|---|
| Light (coffee, small items) | R50 |
| Moderate (meals, drinks) | R100 - R200 |
| Heavy (regular dining, pro shop) | R300+ |
Tip: Set your threshold higher than your typical single purchase. If your average transaction is R80, set the threshold to at least R100.

When You'll Receive Alerts
Alerts are triggered when:
- Your balance drops below your threshold after a purchase
- One alert per threshold crossing (not repeated until you top up and drop again)
You won't receive an alert if:
- Your balance was already below threshold
- You've disabled low balance notifications
- Your contact details are incorrect
Pairing with Auto Top-Up
For complete peace of mind, combine low balance alerts with auto top-up:
| Feature | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Low Balance Alert | Notifies you when balance is low |
| Auto Top-Up | Automatically adds funds when balance is low |
Best practice: Set your alert threshold slightly above your auto top-up threshold. This way, you're notified before auto top-up kicks in, giving you visibility into your spending.
Example:
- Low balance alert: R150
- Auto top-up threshold: R100
You'll receive an alert at R150, and if you don't manually top up, auto top-up will run at R100.
Common Questions
How often will I receive alerts?
Only once per threshold crossing. After you receive an alert, you won't get another until:
- You top up (bringing balance above threshold)
- Your balance drops below threshold again
Can I change my threshold anytime?
Yes. Go to Settings and update the amount. Changes take effect immediately.
What if I'm receiving too many alerts?
- Raise your threshold so you top up larger amounts less often
- Consider enabling auto top-up to maintain higher balances
- Reduce the number of notification channels
The alert says a different balance than I expected
Alerts are sent when your balance crosses the threshold. By the time you see it, your balance may have changed from additional transactions.
